Dr Benjamin Walker
Ben is a lecturer in applied mathematics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath, where he is also a research fellow supported by the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851. Ben received his DPhil in Mathematics from the University of Oxford in 2021 under the supervision of Eamonn Gaffney.
Ben’s research interests are in applied mathematics and broadly span Mathematical Biology, Microscale Flows, and Multiscale Asymptotics, on which he has published numerous articles. He is also passionate about education, communication, and outreach in the mathematical sciences and is an author of the online tool VisualPDE.com.
Ben has been involved in PROMYS Europe since it began in 2015, when he was part of the first group of counsellors. He returned in 2016 as a deputy head counsellor and has been delivering the programme as the PROMYS Europe Senior Tutor since PROMYS Europe Connect in 2021.
