Dr. Vicky Neale

Vicky, the Executive Director of PROMYS Europe, is the Whitehead Lecturer at the Mathematical Institute and Supernumerary Fellow at Balliol College, University of Oxford. Vicky divides her time between teaching undergraduates and working on outreach and public engagement with maths. She has taken part in several BBC radio and television programmes, gives many public lectures and leads many workshops for school students, and works with colleagues in Oxford and beyond on a range of outreach projects. Her first book, Closing the Gap: the quest to understand prime numbers, was published by Oxford University Press in October 2017.

Before coming to teach at the University of Oxford, Vicky was a Senior Teaching Associate in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Cambridge, and she was also a Fellow and Director of Studies in Mathematics at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge. She did her PhD at Trinity College, Cambridge; her research was in additive number theory, under the supervision of Professor Ben Green.

Vicky has been involved with PROMYS Europe since the first summer programme in 2015.
